Ingredients

  • 500 g potatoes
  • cup water
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup or honey
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Prepare the Potatoes – Wash the potatoes thoroughly. Peel them if desired, then cut them into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm).
  • Make the Seasoning Sauce – In a small bowl, mix water, soy sauce, sugar, corn syrup, vegetable oil, sesame oil, and minced garlic.
  • Cook the Potatoes – Place the potatoes into a pot and pour the seasoning sauce over them.
  • Simmer Until Tender – Cover the pot and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Check the Sauce – Keep an eye on the broth to ensure it doesn’t evaporate completely. If it’s reducing too quickly, lower the heat or finish cooking earlier.
  • Serve – Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy with rice and other Korean side dishes!
